The latest location to be lighting up the airwaves with a KTL antenna system is the most exotic place yet – Christmas Island in the group of South Pacific islands comprising the Republic of Kiribati. Kintronic was able to supply the complete antenna system to the Kiribati government station Radio Kiribati.
The whole system includes the tower package supplied by Valmont, the antenna tuning unit, ground system, transmission line and a dummy load rated to 17.8 kW average power. This new 10 kW station operating on 846 KHz broadcasts weather updates and news for the neighboring Northern and Southern Line Islands and Phoenix Islands. According to the station manager, skywave reception has been confirmed as far away as New Zealand and Arctic Norway.
